Iris Apfel style principles that you need to know to live your best styled life

There are a handful of stylish people that truly inspire me to live my best life, Iris Apfel is one of them.  Although I have never had the privilege to meet her, her words of wisdom, her style and her degree of nonchalance is truly remarkable.

You can easily learn more about her life online but here is a quick summary.

How many of you have had thoughts of “I’m getting too old to do this or that OR wear this or that”??  I always roll my eyes thinking “why are you selling yourself short?”… Well, I have officially found someone that gloriously encourages us to just do it or as she puts it : 

“You have to try it. You only have one trip. You’ve got to remember that.”  Iris Apfel

Extravagant, yes

Stylish, yes

Colorful, yes

Maybe she isn’t your cup of tea stylewise, but honestly, her style gets my adrenaline going….can I pretend that I am five years old and play dress up in her closet with my sister? hahaha

Seriously, from all of the fashion rules I’ve heard, faux-pas, trends and fashion influencers, her words about fashion and how to get dressed hits a cord.  It is simple, honest, personal and fun!

CITRUS TIP: To break it down, wear what you truly love but don’t be afraid to try new things.

Basically, Iris Apfel’s style is finding good classic pieces (pants, jeans, dresses, shirts, skirts…) that she loves and personalizing it with the help of MANY accessories that she also truly loves.
