Citrus Love - A Podcast for Mamas Posts

Currently Loving: What the happiest people in the world know on raising kids.

Usually, the start of a new year has a lot of people thinking about goals, new projects and resolutions. Generally speaking, how to make this year even better than the last. Wouldn’t this also include how to create a happier environment ?

This had me thinking about an audiobook that I discovered a few months ago about raising happy kids. As a young mom, the challenge of raising children is real, even more when they are under the age of 5.  So if this can help me, I hope that it can also inspire you in raising happy and confident children.

If you’ve missed it, here is another great book that I’ve talked about in a previous post about parenting.

Why is this book interesting ?!

Did you know that Denmark was voted the happiest place in the world since 1943 !!!  So maybe they are doing some things right with their kids that we can also learn and apply in our lives.

As any parent knows, parenting is one of the most challenging things. So when I heard raved reviews about this parenting book on what the happiest people in the world do to raise confident and happy kids, I was very intrigued.

Oh So Good… Enchiladas

Happy New Year!

One thing I enjoy cooking during the winter months is comfort food. However, I always gravitate towards more healthy, veggie packed recipes.  Today’s Oh So Good recipe has become a favorite that my partner always appreciates.

So if your looking for a very flavorful, veggie packed or even vegan option, this recipe can be easily modified to your taste.

Sweater Season & Tips on how to find the right one for you!

Sweater season is upon us, well at least here and for most of the country.  I used to dislike winter, the cold weather, the lack of sunshine and especially the sea of black, red and grey color options in some of the stores….so to compensate I’ve tried to find ways to keep adding fun, colorful sweaters in my wardrobe, even during the winter months.

So move over black and grey sweaters, here are my top tips & picks on where you may find some great selection of colorful and classic sweaters to wear this winter.

Soft Vegan Pumpkin Cookies

When it comes to desserts most of us can’t say no, especially when it comes to a warm home baked cookie!  I have never been shy to ask for more and to admit that I love having a dessert after any meal…even sometimes for breakfast, haha!  However, with that being said, in order to be able to eat deserts more often, I always try to use healthier and more nutritions ingredients.

We all know someone that is either vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, lactose intolerant, or on another diet.

Everyone wants to have a healthier life or due to health reasons has a restricted diet. For me eating a lot of vegan desserts is one way of having the best of both worlds…desserts and being healthy!

Traveling to Tunisia: Tozeur, the Mountain Oasis & Chebika

One of the things that Kais was very adament in showing me was the South of Tunisia, more specifically a part of their desert.  My only part was “yes” or “no” when he would ask me: “would you like to visit this or this?”  However, I kept having this feeling that maybe it would not be a great idea going knowing that I was pregnant.  After all, 38-40 degrees weather, honestly, this girl from the northern part of Canada was not great in handling very hot destinations….especially pregnant.  However, in the end I gave in to my curiosity and we drove 6 hours South of Sousse to the city of Tozeur.

What is interesting about Tunisia is you have different landscapes, while the North is colder and the East Coast borders the Sea, the South is where the desert lies.

Traveling to Tunisia: Monastir

Before meeting my partner Kais, whom is originally from Tunisia, I had never heard, let alone showed any interest in visiting this country.  Let’s be honest, it isn’t the most advertised country.  So for the next few blog posts, I wanted to let you discover through my photos more of this beautiful country.

Let me just start by saying that if you do not know anyone in Tunisia that can be your tour guide through the city or if you do not speak the language which is arabic (a tunisian dialect), then I would definitely recommend exploring this country with organized tours.  Thankfully, I had Kais who had family and friends giving us recommendations and renting a car made it incredibly easier for us to visit on our own.

Tunisia has little gems located throughout the country for tourist to discover it’s beauty.

Being Grateful & Surprise Announcement!

Happy Thankgiving weekend!

If you have been following me on Instagram (@christiane.begin) then you know that I visited Tunisia recently with my little family.  As my partner is originally from there, we visited his relatives as well as some tourist spots.  I am currently prepping those posts and selecting from the many pictures we took so stay tuned!

Being Grateful

Thanksgiving has always been an important weekend in my family.  We had our extended family and some close friends on Sundays to celebrate and eat A LOT of homemade food.  We celebrated the end of the farming season in my town (I grew up on a farm) while being together enjoying 5 course meals my mom usually prepared which was one of my favorite part of getting together.  Mmmmm!  Now that I have been living at the other end of the country, I don’t get to share these special moments with my family.  On the other hand, I have my little family that is growing and I try to incorporate those traditions into my cooking and my baking.  I enjoy the Fall feeling and coziness it brings with warmer clothing and hot beverages.  Don’t you just LOVE the Fall flavors such as pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, cranberry sauce….?!

Trying something different: A twist on the classic stripe shirt

OUTFIT: Zara Shirt (other fun blouses here, here, here and here), Anthropologie Pants (old), Bussola shoes (old)

I did something that I never do …

I wore a classic button down stripe shirt. Okay, that might not seem impressive or different as stripe shirts are basically known as a must-have in everyone’s closet….well not for me!

I absolutely dislike wearing “une blouse” (in french) or the classic button-down shirt.  The simple reason is

Currently Loving: Fun Clothing Brands for Baby Boys & Boys

Baby clothes are soo darn cute !

Seriously, I have never met someone who didn’t think so. Having a baby, especially if it’s your first one, you can’t escape the monthly restocking and buying or receiving of new clothing.

Babies grow incredibly fast, well most of them, so as a parent it is fun to go shopping for new items and outfits for your kids. I always enjoyed this part as you can basically dress them and style them however you want. It is pretty much the only time that you will have this much freedom on their choice of clothing !

I can’t believe this !
