It’s the 5 second outfit…
No joke, this one item looks good, takes 5 seconds to put on and can easily transition from day to evening wear.
The jumpsuit, overall or one piece, whatever you choose to call it, it is one of those pieces I wished I had multiples in my closet, as it is incredibly easy to wear.
A close friend reminded me recently that I wasn’t the only one getting excited to have one in my closet. It was her birthday and she sent me a photo of her new, happy birthday to me jumpsuit, saying that it reminded her of our youth…not that were old but maybe because we would wear overalls and one piece outfits as babies and kids.
This outfit is very clever, simple, yet can be ever so chic for women!
CITRUS STYLE TIP: It looks good on you since it creates a longer and leaner silhouette especially if you are petite, larger on top, curvy, small waisted or have short legs. This looks good on a lot of women as long as you buy the right length…crop leg isn’t always forgiving (crop always makes your legs look shorter) unless your wearing some sort of heel, so I prefer to stick to the regular pant length.
Also, the very wide leg jumpsuits can be worn cropped because they tend to look like you are wearing a dress.
Although I don’t necessarily wear it in winter, you can easily wear it year long by pairing it with or without a t-shirt or turtleneck underneath or a blazer/light jacket/sweater on top.
I love it because it is versatile, comfortable and can be worn multiple ways (depending on your accessories and shoes).
Here is an example of me wearing it in Fall (click here) but remove the turtleneck underneath and voila you have a great Summer outfit which has also become my go-to travel or airplane outfit (click here).
To show you how you can possibly wear jumpsuits, here are some ideas of how others are wearing it.
Let’s get started!
- Add a hat
2. Add a belt
3. Add a blazer
4. Wear it in a floral print
5. Wear it in a bright color
6.Wear it in a gingham print and let’s not forget some colourful accessories!
7. Choose some fun details that can transition from day to evening wear (like this one)
8. Add a t-shirt for a casual look (style on sale here)
CITRUS STYLE TIP: If you are soft in the middle then choose a style that has an elastic waist or drawstring that is more comfortable since it can be adjusted and will fit you perfectly.
