Have you ever pee’d in your pants jumping, laughing, or even just a few drips because you couldn’t hold it long enough to run to the bathroom?
Okay, you might think this sounds a little gross or weird or childlike behavior BUT this is one very common problem among women and especially women that have given birth.
Re-educating the pelvic floor is not just doing kegel exercices.
Marie-Josée Lord
Enter pelvic floor therapy OR what’s been coined the new term all about your ‘pelvic health’.
While this topic is still taboo and many women and mamas prefer to keep it hush hush…my guess is that it includes talking about your vagina, sometimes anus, your core and a whole lot of the inner muscles in that ‘private’ area. Well, lucky for you I like to talk about these uncomfortable topics and even more so when it’s ever so important and life changing for your overall health and well-being.
So today I have a mom of 4 boys, an expertise in everything pelvic floor and pelvic health, Marie-Josée Lord. She is a pioneer in the field of pelvic health physiotherapy in Canada, a sought after speaker, assistant instructor at McGill University and also the co-owner and instructor at the teaching company that provides post-graduate courses in pelvic floor dysfunction to physiotherapists across Canada called Uro-Santé. She received her B.Sc. (P.T.) at McGill University and has treated a variety of pelvic floor disorders over the past 30 years.
Her most recent endeavour is opening the first pelvic health clinic in the Montreal area in Quebec.
