These are so stylish and comfortable!
I was never a sneaker girl, those were only for exercising. However, in the last 2 years my style has changed to match my lifestyle which is more a stay at home mom. During this time, I have seen so many fun, colorful and stylish sneakers worn with every day clothing. To push things even further, the newer trend is to wear them with dressier or more formal outfits, what! Yep, you heard it right. I am not certain if I would ever wear those bulky running shoes but the more fitted and colorful sneakers look oh so pretty with almost anything.
I love color
I love dresses
I love comfort
I love versality
I love a casual-dressy style
I am loving sneakers!
CITRUS STYLE TIP: Some brands fit narrower and others have a wider fit, some have an arch support and others are insanely flat (which ends being really bad for your feet, back, hips and knees). To find your best fit, try the shoes, close your eyes, walk around and feel if the shoes are comfortable or exerces any pressure points on your feet. If so, it’s a no-go!
To help you in your search, I have gattered a few brands that I find to be comfortable and others that are still on my wishlist but that offer some comfort.
Don’t forget to scroll down as I will show you some exemples on how to style them with your clothing.
For your reference, I have a slightly wider foot and a flatter arch. I am my most comfortable wearing shoes that have a small heel since really flat shoes hurt my back and make my legs appear shorter.
Always remembre that wearing sneakers with a built in arch support is the best fit for your feet and overall health (…the mantra “no pain no gain” does not apply to your feet).
I know a lot of people like to wear the ever popular converse or keds sneakers. Unfortunately, they did not make my list of comfortable sneakers since they are very flat shoes, with minimal arch support and cushioning. I am looking for a sneaker that you can last all day wearing and still look good.
Here are some comfortable sneakers…
NEW BALANCE
Committed to the pursuit of excellence, these sneakers are now available in multiple colors and different options (for running, for walking, for hiking, for lifestyle…).
I personally have always found these shoes extremely comfortable but a little on the sulky side. So wearing them with casual bottoms such as pants or jeans is better.
You can find more colors here and here and here.
VIONIC
This brand of shoes was created by a podiatric (foot doctor), after realizing that many people have foot problems and aliments due to improper foot support in their shoes. The Vionic shoes are made to “hug your arches like your natural footprint” as per indicated on their website. Having worked in a high-end shoe store and seen so many different feet, I cannot emphasize how important wearing good and fitted shoes with proper support can increase or deplete your daily energy. Even better is that Vionic has a 30 day wear test. This is great if you have never bought from this brand and want to take your shoes for a test drive, haha! I have had these sneakers on my wishlist for a while and cannot wait to buy a pair!
You can find the collection here.
SUPERGA
They do not have arch support but a very soft sole and a wider fit. They are sold in multiple colors and prints which I love! Very reasonably priced, these are slowly becoming a favorite in my wardrobe.
These look oh so good with dressier as well as very casual clothing. They can make a boring outfit look chic or trendy and a fun colorful dress look more casual and comfortable. They also have platform styles which can add a little height and makes you look slimmer and taller.

GOLA
The first time I ever tried these shoes in a store, I could not believe how confortable and light they were. It would be great for traveling as they have a more fitted style. I simply love them!

VEJA
These fair trade sneakers are in leather and very chic. Comfort and being ethical is key for this french company. Love love love!
You can find them here, here, here and here.
SEAVEES
Known as the comfortable sneaker with the sophistication of a dressier shoe. These have a wider fit and a soft sole with a small arch support. A classic fit which comes in many shoes and limited prints. These can easily be worn with anything from skirts, to dresses to pants.
You can find them here, here and here.
BORN
I bought a pair of yellow loafers and boots from this brand and they are oh so comfortable! I am certain that these sneakers with built in arch support and insole cushioning offer the same comfort. I would happily add this style for walking and traveling. They can be worn with dresses as well as sportwear. I am simply in love with this brand!
You can find more from the collection here.
CITRUS STYLE TIP: At the end of the day, you will wear what makes you happy, if you still prefer keds, converse or any other sneakers without arch support then please oh please do yourself a favor and buy inserts at the pharmacy. It will help you walk longer and put less pressure on your knees, back, hips and feet.
Here are exemples of arch support inserts…
