Another year has come and gone. The countdown and probably your holiday preparations have already started. I absolutely LOVE LOVE this time of year because we always plan something special either going to visit my family or a road trip with my love and little ones.
Another fun thing is reading or listening to some Favorite lists/items/products… so I thought this year I would share with you by category, some of my 2018 favorite items. So this week, I am featuring some of this years favorite fashion items.
I truly enjoy trying new things and we all know how beneficial and oh so simpler it is when an item receives a good review. In the spirit of the Holidays, I hope that this list will give you ideas, maybe for you, maybe as a gift, of items that I believe are worth it and that will last a few seasons.
So here are a few of 2018 favorite fashion items tried and tested, loved that receive the Citrus Love stamp of approval!

BANANA REPUBLIC MERINO SWEATER
This style (merino blend), or this style (100%merino).
Last January, I purchased from Banana Republic their basic crewneck merino wool blended sweater in bright pink in a Medium. Honestly, it is such a great piece for winter since it is warm yet thin which is perfect for layering. I usually wear a layering tank underneat since I am sensitive to wool which does the trick. I recommend buying blended (60-45% merino wool) if you are skin sensitive. Most importantly, never put it in the dryer, always lay flat to prevent shrinkage. Also, banana republic sells this sweater style in many beautiful colors that easily works from a day to night sweater. It is a slightly fitted sweater, true to size so this is why you can easily pair it as casual wear or for a special event.
Citrus Love Style Tip:
Day Style: wear it with jeans and a sleeveless vest, pants, skirts, layered over a dress to make it more casual, with overalls or dare I say even with loungewear.
Evening Style: wear it with fancier jewelry, a skirt, dress pants or wide leg crop pants
2. SIMONS SOCKS (find all socks here)
The easiest and most inexpensive way of adding color and brightening a cold cloudy winter day is with warm socks. I have bought quite a few from Simons and even put it on my Christmas list last year. They wear well and look good! Even if you love your dark colors in winter, you can’t escape how a bright pink, merino wool or polka dot socks can make you smile even just a little bit. I especially LOVE these ones! or these ones or these ones.
3. ANTHROPOLOGIE HAIR CLIPS
You know how frustrating it can be when you drop you hair clip and the teeth breaks or the clip itself breaks. I used to buy them at the local pharmacy in brown or black colors to match my hair. Then I began to search for different colors and better quality hair clips. Last Summer, I decided to purchase some colorful hair barrettes (now sold out but other option here) since I had short hair (too short for a ponytail). I needed something that would hold my thick hair to the side. Well, these ones were perfect and also comes in a few color options.
So since then I have been buying more hair accessories online from them and they are heavy duty, small, pretty, stylish and they also have a lot of fun options. Yes, they are more expensive but well worth it as they last and hold thick hair like these or these!

4. OLD NAVY MID RISE PIXIE PANT (wearing a pixie printed pant in the first picture)
If you want to try some printed or colorful pants without breaking the bank then Old Navy is perfect for you. I find that their Pixie style pant which comes in 2 different lengths (ankle or full length) has a very flattering cut. It is slim and sits higher at the waist (no risk of seeing any butt cracks over here). I have bought 3 pairs a print and in bright colors which was great (if you buy online then you can always return it at no extra charge).
What I love is that this style is year round and has new color options every season. So if this one is a winner for you then you are set for the year.

5. ALBION FIT SWIMWEAR
Okay, changing it up to a Summer item. I have been looking for a colorful swimwear that holds everything in (forget those itsy bitsy low cut bikinis) as well as a one-piece swimsuit for long torsos (help!), and finally found a company that saved the day. I have this style. Not only do they have good-looking one-piece swimsuits but also oh so chic high waisted bikinis. They look really good!
However, their fit is small. I had to order Large and even that one was a little tight… (but I bought it 2 months postpartum so maybe it doesn’t count?) but most likely sizing up would be good idea. The only thing is that it takes about 2 weeks for delivery and a little pricey as it’s not available in Canada but if you need a new swimsuit then check them out here.
6. COSTCO LEGGINGS/PONTE PULL-ON PANTS
When you think of shopping for a good pair of pants, your first thought might not be Costco. However, the quality you get for a 20-30$ pant is actually amazing. The reason you should believe me on this one is that I actually worked with a company that manufactured and sold these pants to Costco. The hundreds of specific testing that is done before a single style is approved and sold in stores is pretty darn impressive when you are not the one taking care of it. The fabric, the workmanship and the overall quality and fit is analyzed in every way. After all, for the amount of pieces that they buy per style, the style should be close to perfect. So since then, a big chunk of my casual leggings or pull-on pants that I wear every other day is from Costco. The brand I usually buy is Dalia (see picture) which are usually easy to find year round or you can buy them online here.
The waistband is wide so if you have a tummy it actually holds it in and the pant length is long and slim. You can always have the length adjusted to your height. The colors are mostly basics black, greys and navy with 1-2 printed ones but always in darker colors. Honestly, I don’t mind because you can wear color anywhere else when the fit is good.
Don’t put these in the dryer as they have stretch and won’t lasts as long if you do.
7. Hanna Andersson Pyjamas
I usually have a difficult time finding a pyjama that I love. A lot of the time they are in solid basic colors or in classic styles. Hanna Andersson has a variety of fun colorful printed organic coton pyjamas. I bought their lemon print last Spring and absolutely LOVE LOVE it. You can also have matching PJS for the family! If you are looking for the comfiest, colorful and fun pyjamas then this is the place. Their prints are also very seasonal.

8. IZIPIZI SUNGLASSES (see here for other colors)
Although I bought these 2 years ago, out of all the sunglasses I have bought over the years, these colorful options mix the best of both worlds quality and style at a very affordable price point. I ought a caramel tortoise color as a neutral but the bright blue, yellow and these blue tortoise are also soo pretty. They have A LOT of options but for ultimate beach wear, the Sun Nautic (Polarized lens) are the best. I bought mine from Nordstrom but Izipizi website has more color options and the shipping to my house in Canada is $15 so that is reasonable.
